Mark Specht was a key part of one of the most successful decades in Nebraska Wesleyan men’s basketball history. Across Specht’s two- and one-half year career, NWU recorded 56 wins, one NCAA Division III Tournament appearance losing in the sweet sixteen to Hampton Sydney in 1995.
During his final year he was named to the All-Tournament team at both the Division III tip-off tournament at Illinois Wesleyan and the Snyder Classic.
Specht was a first-team All-NIAC performer and named to the Nebraska State College 1st Team while leading the NIAC conference in scoring his senior season. He finished his career with 1,195 points and ranks third in 3-point field goal percentage (44.9%) and second in career free throw percentage (85.6%).
