Hall of Fame
Dr. Loy Watley has been a long-time supporter of Nebraska Wesleyan athletics serving in several different roles.
While working as a professor in the NWU Business department, Dr. Watley took on the role as the Faculty Athletic Representative for the NWU Athletic Department. He acted as the FAR from Fall 2005 to Spring 2016, acting on several conference committees and overseeing nominations for NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship awards. During his time, NWU had 45 regional finalists and 27 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winners.
Since 2002, Dr. Watley has been the Public Address Announcer for Prairie Wolves home football games. Bringing his unique vocabulary to the microphone, Watley’s voice has become synonymous with Saturday’s at Abel Stadium. He has filled in for PA duties at other NWU sporting events, including the 2019 NCAA III Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Aside from his main duties at NWU, Watley also is a true fan of the Prairie Wolves attending home and away contests supporting his students. Even after his retirement, Watley follows the Prairie Wolves teams and made the trip to three sites during NWU’s men’s basketball 2018 NCAA III National Championship run.
