Chad Wemhoff (Lincoln, Neb.) was a two-sport standout competing in football and track & field for the Plainsmen from 1994-98. He was All-Conference and Academic All-American at wide receiver for the NWU football team and a 7-time All-American and Academic All-American in track.
Wemhoff, a Lincoln Pius X H.S., graduate, was a four-time All-NIAC selection in football earning 1st-Team honors in 1996 and 2nd-Team in 1997. He became the first NWU football player to become a 3-time Academic All-American, gaining 1st-Team recognition in 1996 and 1997.
He finished his football career with a school record 164 receptions, a mark that ranks second today on the NWU football charts. He had 13 career touchdown catches and totaled 1,900 receiving yards to still rank fourth all-time.
On the track, Wemhoff ran on the 1998 NCAA National Champion 4x400 meter relay team at the NCAA Indoor championships. In 1997, he was part of the NCAA National runner-up 4x400 relay team at the outdoor championships. He won a NIAC Championship in the 440 and multiple NIAC titles on relay teams. He also received 2nd-Team Academic All-America honors in track in 1998.
