Courtney (Clinard) Mann was a standout distance runner for NWU, earning multiple national honors in cross country and track & field. She was a three-time NCAA Championship qualifier in cross country and earned All-America honors in 2000 with a 13th-place finish at the national meet. A three-time All-Conference performer, she placed in the top 8 at the conference championships each year from 1998–2000.
On the track, Courtney qualified for the NCAA National Championships three times in the 1500 meters, earning NCAA All-America honors in 2001 with a runner-up finish in the 2001 indoor 1500. She also received NAIA All-America recognition in the indoor 1000 meters during NWU’s dual affiliation era. Courtney holds school records in both the indoor 1000 and 1500 meters and ranks second all-time in the indoor mile and fourth in the outdoor 1500.
She also contributed to several record-setting relays, including the indoor distance medley relay, which ranks third all-time, and the outdoor sprint medley relay, which currently stands as the second-fastest in program history. Courtney was named NWU’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2001, capping an incredible career.
After graduating, Courtney began a career in the insurance industry and earned her MBA. She currently serves as director of finance at Mutual of Omaha. She and her husband, Cody, have two children, Alexis and Talan. A dedicated runner, Courtney still begins most mornings with a 5 a.m. group run.
