Three Prairie Wolves Set National Leading Times In First Indoor Track and Field Meet of 2021


KEARNEY, Neb. (January 30, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams competed in their first indoor meet of the 2021 season at the UNK Invite in Kearney, Nebraska. 

Three Prairie Wolves turned in NCAA Division III leading times, two on the women's side and one on the men's side. The NWU women's team won five events as the men's team won four events at the invite. No team scores were kept as NWU competed with Nebraska Kearney and Fort Hays State, both NCAA Division II members.

Women's Track and Field Recap
Camryn Larsen and Aspen Rolfes led the Nebraska Wesleyan women's team with NCAA Division III leading times in their respective individual events. Larsen won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.36, three seconds better than the next runner, and Rolfes won the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.89, two seconds ahead of the next competitor. Isabella Hilger was first to the line in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:01, also two seconds better than the runner-up. Leah Treffer took first in the 3000-meter run with a time of 10:51.79, the only runner to finish in under 11 minutes. The final women's champion for NWU was the 4x400-meter relay team of Larsen, Hilger, Rolfes and Megan Carley with a time of 4:02.47. To see the complete results from the UNK Invite, click here.

Men's Track and Field Recap
On the men's side, Kyle Dickinson turned in an NCAA Division III leading time for the 400-meter dash as he ran a 50.28. Ben Christenson won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.11. Dickinson and Christenson teamed up with Gabe Anderson and Rudy Vrtiska to win the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:27.14. In the men's field events, Matt Winter won the long jump for the Prairie Wolves with a mark of 6.76 meters (22'6.25"). To see the complete results from the UNK Invite, click here.

What's Next
Nebraska Wesleyan travels to Storm Lake, Iowa for the Buena Vista Triangular with BVU and Luther College. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
