Track & Field Teams Start Outdoor Season With Doane Dual


CRETE, Neb. (April 2, 2021) - Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track and field started the 2021 outdoor season with a dual against longtime rival Doane. The NWU women's team fell 98-90 and the men's team fell 124-64 in Crete, Nebraska.

The women's team picked up wins in 11 events. Maddie Moran won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.44. Aspen Rolfes turned in a time of 24.88 to win the 200-meter dash and Isabella Hilger won the 400-meter dash with a time of 59.17. In the 800-meter run, Reagan Janzen won the event with a time of 2:16.92. Madi Bahe won the 1500-meter run with a time of 5:00.62 with Leah Treffer cruising to victory in the 5000-meter run with a time of 19:09.82.

NWU's 4x100-meter relay team of Shantel Koranda, Moran, Bre Geary, and Rolfes took first place with a time of 49.39. The 4x400-meter relay team won their race with a time of 3:59.20, the team included Hilger, Megan Carley, Janzen, and Camryn Larsen.

In field events, Tessa Hoffman won the triple jump with a performance of 36-06.25. Linnaea Konfrst took first in both the shot put and discus throws. She had a mark of 44-04.25 to win the shot and a mark of 164-08 to win the discus by almost 20 feet. 

The men's team won four events on the afternoon. Kyle Dickinson won the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.56. Norbert Weijenberg won the 5000-meter run with a time of 16:00.67, 10 seconds ahead of the next competitor. 

Chase Keller, Matt Winter, Ben Christenson, and Eli Etherton teamed up to win the 4x100-meter relay in a time of 42.26. Christenson, Gabe Anderson, Lucas Arps, and Kyle Dickinson won the 4x400-meter relay in a time 3:24.44.

Andrew Davis claimed the only Prairie Wolf win in the field events. He won the javelin throw with a mark of 159-09.

What's Next
Nebraska Wesleyan travels to, another longtime rival, Concordia for the Concordia Invitational on April 9 and 10 in Seward, Nebraska.
