Avery Decker Claims A-R-C Women's Athlete of the Week Honors

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan graduate student Avery Decker earned American Rivers Conference Women's Athlete of the Week honors Monday following another historic performance in the javelin.

Decker dominated at the Doane Dual last Friday (4/11), unleashing a national-leading throw of 47.50 meters, which is the 15th-best mark in NCAA Division III history. The distance extended her own DIII season lead by over three meters.

Three days earlier at the Doane Quadrangular (4/8), Decker opened her week with a 44.24-meter winning throw against 16 competitors.

The two victories add to Decker's growing legacy. She now holds four of the top 25 throws in NCAA DIII history (#8, #15, #21, #23) She is the only athlete in DIII this season to surpass 47 meters.

Decker and the Prairie Wolves compete next at the Kansas Relays(April 17-19), and the Loper Invitational (April 19).
