CRETE, Neb. -- The 2015 outdoor track & field season got underway on Friday as Nebraska Wesleyan took on rival Doane College in their annual beginning of the year track dual in Crete. NWU had top performances on the track with 13 total wins in track events.
The Tigers won both duals as the Doane men defeated NWU 112-89 with the women winning 120-78.
NWU women won six of the nine individual track events as the Prairie Wolves showed their dominance in running events. Two NWU female athletes were double winners on the day.Â
Katie Krick controlled the sprints as she won both the 100 and 200 meters. She ran a 12.32 in the 100 and a 25.77 in the 200.
Jamie Larsen was a double winner in distance events as she took home the title in the 1,500 and 5,000. Larsen ran 4:58.59 in the 1500 and 18:49 in the 5000.Â
Other winners on the track were Abbie Hunke in the 400 meters (59.06) and
Gabi Jenkins in the 3000 steeplechase (.11:45.87).
The lone winner in the field events for the NWU women was
Samantha Dolezal in the discus. The All-American had a mark of 144-5 in the discus.
For the Nebraska Wesleyan men, the Prairie Wolves won six individual events and both relay races.Â
On the track, NWU was a winner in four races. The sprints were dominated by the Prairie Wolves as
Jordan Flemington won the 100 meters in a time of 10.78 in his first collegiate outdoor race.
Garrett Teel won the 200 meters in a time of 22.93 as NWU had the top three finishers in the race.Â
Bryan Butler was a winner in the 800 meters in a time of 1:57.22. The final NWU winner was
Brock Taute in the 5,000 as he ran 15:08.
In field events, senior
Sean Lindgren won the hammer throw with a toss of 167-11.Â
Garrett Sellhorst won the triple jump with a distance of 45-10.
