ABOUT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Nebraska Wesleyan's regular season consisted of seven meets, over a six week stretch. During that time, Nebraska Wesleyan posted 26 national top 50 marks, with six ranking inside the top 10. The Prairie Wolves also have 11 event squads ranked in the top 25, including the top women's discus team in the country. At the conference level, four Prairie Wolves have earned A-R-C Athlete of the Week honors, while NWU has seen 27 program top 10 marks, including four school records.Â
HIGH LEVEL WEEKEND
Nebraska Wesleyan saw multiple high level performances at last Friday's Prairie Wolf Invite, and Saturday's Drake Relays. On Friday,
Colin Wojtkiewicz set a new school record in the men's weight throw, winning the event with a toss of 60.72 feet. For his performance, Wojtkiewicz was named A-R-C Field Athlete of the Week. On the track,
Noah Smith ran the third fastest 110 MH time in school history and helped
Eli Etherton,
Jacob Young, and
Connor Halde set a program best in the shuttle hurdle relay. Smith's weekend helped him secure A-R-C Track Athlete of the Week. As a program, NWU saw four other program top 10 performances.Â
DIRECTOR OF TRACK & FIELD AND CROSS COUNTRYÂ DERRICK MCKENZIE
Derrick McKenzie is in his third season as the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at Nebraska Wesleyan. In his first two seasons, Nebraska Wesleyan has 33 NCAA qualifying performances, 12 NCAA All-Americans, one individual national championship and two national runner ups. The Prairie Wolves have won nine individual conference championships and broke numerous school records. Prior to being named Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, McKenzie served as an assistant coach at NWU, where he coached sprints and relays.
