LINCOLN, Neb. -- Both the Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track & field teams won the team titles in easy fashion at the NWU Quad meet that was held Saturday at Knight Fieldhouse. The NWU men scored 255 team points with the Prairie Wolves women scoring 229 points.
Eight different Nebraska Wesleyan women were individual event winners on Saturday as NWU defeated second place Ottawa University by 151 points.
On the track, the Prairie Wolves had four women earn titles. In her first race of the season,
Ashton Rakow won the 55 hurdles in a time of 8.41. Katie Krick continued her solid start to the year with a win in the 200 meters running a time of 26.22. In the long distance races,
Morgan Lenners won the 1,000 meters and
Jamie Larsen won the 3,000 meters.
Field event winners for NWU include
Mary Andrew in the high jump,
Sarah Oligmueller in the pole vault, Allison Ostdieck in the long jump and
Samantha Dolezal won the shot put.
The Nebraska Wesleyan men had seven even winners as they won the men's team race by nearly 200 points over second place Tabor.
Freshman
Jordan Flemington won the 55 meters in a time of 6.51 as the Prairie Wolves had the top four placers in the sprint event.Â
Corey Jones won the 200 meters in a time of 23.47 as NWU dominated the sprints.Â
Bryan Butler took the title in the 800 in a time of 1:59.66 with
Cory Plugge winning the 1,000 in a time of 2:33.35.
Three individuals won their respective field events.Â
Garrett Sellhorst had a mark of 46-4.75 to win the triple jump.Â
Malik Morris won the high jump with a leap of 6-2, while AJ Farrand won the pole vault at 14-2.
