Track and Field Performs Well at SDS Tune Up

HOW IT HAPPENED

Nebraska Wesleyan University's men's and women's track team traveled to South Dakota State University on Friday to compete in their final regular season event of the year.
Ben Christenson, Austin Nauert, Steven Dalmeida and Morgan Conner got their day going by putting up their fastest time of the year in the 4x100. The second place time of 41.22 is currently tied for the 16th fastest time nationally.
Bella Hogue got back to work after a short layoff and put up a top 20 time nationally in the 100m dash. Hogue's 12:05 earned her a third place finish.
Mackenna Witte tossed a season best, 43.81m, in the discus. Her throw currently puts her 17th in the country.
In a field of 30-plus competitors, Ellie Akough took home sixth place in the hammer throw with a monster toss of 54.11m.
Eric Lenz continued to show steady improvement as he recorded the 9th farthest throw in school history in the shot put, 15.99m.
