Prairie Wolves Battle in Dual with Doane

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska Wesleyan University track and field team hosted Doane Wednesday, April 8. The Prairie Wolves were bested by the Tigers in the annual dual with the men losing by seven points and the women by 76 points.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Men
Eli Etherton won the men's 110 meter hurdles with a time a time of 14.23 which ranks third in the country. He was followed by Jacob Young, Noah Smith, and Connor Plahn who ran 14.44, 14.47, and 15.33 respectively. Nebraska Wesleyan took the top spots in the 1500m with Reed Emsick crossing the finish line in 3:56.87 and Brennan Steenson winning the 800 in 1:56.45. In the 100m, Ghaith Taha and Steven Dalmeida stood at the top of the leaderboard, running a 10.57 and a 10.92 respectively.

First place in the men's 400m went to McClain Meyer with a time of 49.06, trailed by Barrett Mayfield who ran a 49.84. The Prairie Wolves took first again in the 200m thanks to Max Lyon's 22.18 time and Vaughn Bausch finished second with a 22.19 time. The team of McClain Meyer, Gavin Vlcan, Barrett Mayfield, and Reed Emsick secured the 4x400m for the men with a time of 3:17.69. 

At 4.30m, Grahm Peterson had the highest clearing in the pole vault for the Prairie Wolves followed by Robbie Rist's 4.15m. Colin Wojtkiewicz's broke his own school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 59.30m that moves him into sixth in the country. Rounding out the men's action, Sam Clements followed it up with breaking his own school record in the shot put with a throw of 18.23 meter. That puts him second in the country.

Women
Rachel Smith had herself a day taking first in the women's 100m hurdles and runner up in the 400m hurdles with times of 14.74 and 1:05.89 respectively. Clearing 5.51m, Chloe Mooberry lead the field in the long jump. A 46.99m from Kaelyn Means put her firmly at the top of the women's discus throw. 

Nebraska Wesleyan had several second place finishers; Jadah Laughlin in the 100m hurdles, Raegan Levi in the 200m, and Delaney Vacek in the 800m.
