Track and Field Opens Outdoor Season

LINCOLN, Neb. (April 2, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams opened the 2022 outdoor season at the Central Nebraska Challenge in Kearney, Nebraska. The Prairie Wolves combined for eight top three finishes, including winning three events.

Isabella Hilger had a huge performance in the women's 400-meter dash. Hilger won the race with a time of 57.39, which also ranks as the third fastest time in NCAA Division III. Reagan Janzen took the top spot in the women's 800-meter run. Janzen set a new program record with a time of 2:12.58 in the race.

The NWU 4x100-meter relay team of Shantel Koranda, Isabella Hogue, Bre Geary, and Maddie Moran raced to gold. The team clocked a 51.05, which currently is second-fastest in the division and third best in program history.

Maddie Moran raced to a runner-up finish in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 11.99. Moran becomes the first-ever Prairie Wolf to run under 12 seconds in the event. In the women's 200-meter dash, Isabella Hogue was second with a time of 24.24. The time currently leads NCAA Division III and is the second time in program history.

On the men's side, Norbert Weijenberg finished runner-up in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase. Weijenberg finished the event with a time of 9:55.00.

Nebraska Wesleyan had two third-place finishes. Addie Thomas was third in the women's triple jump with a mark of 34'-7.5". The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Ben Christenson, Kyle Dickinson, Gabe Anderson, and Garrett Lenners ran a time of 3:18.91 for the third spot.
