ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Sam Clements threw the shot put 60 feet on Thursday to lead Nebraska Wesleyan's final regular-season tuneup.
The sophomore uncorked a put of 18.48 meters — 60 feet, 7.75 inches — to win the collegiate shot put at the Augustana Midwest Twilight Final Qualifier, breaking his own school record of 18.23m set earlier this season. The mark ranks third in Division III this year and makes Clements one of just three Division III throwers to clear 60 feet in 2026.
Jacob Young gave the Prairie Wolves another headliner Thursday, winning the 110-meter hurdles finals in a personal-best 14.20 seconds. The sophomore's time ranks 17th nationally and fifth in program history. Young now projects as a strong qualifier for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, set for May 21-23 in La Crosse, Wis.
Nebraska Wesleyan enters the national qualifying period with reason to expect a trio of 110 hurdle entries. Eli Etherton and Noah Smith both qualified through marks earlier this season. Smith ran 14.44 in the prelims while Etherton, the program's record-holder, posted 14.42.
Aydon McDonald won the javelin throw with a toss of 57.25 meters (187-10). The men's 4x100 relay of Tyrell Fennell Jr. II, Bladen Kohl, Steven Dalmeida, and Ghaith Taha placed sixth in 41.38, a season-best that currently ranks 47th nationally.
The Prairie Wolves await qualifying announcements for the 2026 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
