VERMILLION, S.D. (May 7, 2021) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams competed in the South Dakota Tune-Up in Vermillion, South Dakota. The meet featured competition from all three NCAA Divisions and NAIA levels. 

Aspen Rolfes and Reagan Janzen both bested their program records. Rolfes ran a 24.40 in the 200-meter dash to finish second behind a runner from NCAA Division I's South Dakota. Janzen lowered her record in the 800-meter dash, which was set last week, to 2:13.49 to finish fifth. Janzen was the only runner not from a Division I institution to finish in the top five. 

NWU's 4x400-meter relay team finished second to South Dakota with a time of 3:51.86. The team consisted of Isabella Hilger, Camryn Larsen, Rolfes, and Janzen. The 4x100-meter relay team finished fifth. The team of Shantel Koranda, Maddie Moran, Bre Geary, and Rolfes clocked a time of 47.71. 

Leah Treffer had a runner-up finish in the 5000-meter run, the best NCAA placer. Treffer ran the event in a time of 18:11.32. In the long jump, Tessa Hoffman was also the only non-Division I finisher in the top five. Hoffman placed fifth with a mark of 35'-05.25."

Kyle Dickinson was the fastest NCAA or NAIA competitor in the 400-meter dash. Dickinson ran a time of 47.98, which finished as runner-up to an unattached competitor. Rudy Vrtiska had the best time of any non-Division I hurdler in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.11.

In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Norbert Weijenberg was the top NCAA placer, regardless of Division. Weijenberg had a time of 9:34.08 in the event. Kellen McLaughlin placed fourth in the 5000-meter run, the highest place by an NCAA Division III runner. McLaughlin turned in a time of 16:13.59.

The Prairie Wolves 4x400-meter relay team of Ben Christenson, Gabe Anderson, Garrett Lenners, and Dickinson placed fifth, also the highest finish by any NCAA member. The relay team had a time of 3:17.86.

Nebraska Wesleyan competes in the American Rivers Conference Championships in Dubuque, Iowa on May 13-15.
