Track and Field Wraps Up Regular-Season With Augie Twilight Qualifier


ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (May 21, 2021) -  The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams competed in their final meet of the 2021 outdoor regular season at the Augie Twilight Qualifier in Rock Island, Illinois. 

NWU's day got started with a second-place finish in the javelin throw by Avery Decker. Decker had a mark of 128'-11", which is the best of Decker's career. Dayton Dolincheck was sixth in the shot put with a performance of 44'-1.25" and Tessa Hoffman was seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 37'-8.75". Hoffman's jump is the fourth-best in program history.

Megan Carley raced to a sixth-place finish in the 400-meter dash. Carley clocked a time under 60 seconds at 59.51. 

The Prairie Wolves recorded their best time of the year in the 4x400-meter relay. The team of Isabella Hilger, Aspen Rolfes, Camryn Larsen, and Reagan Janzen finished third with a time of 3:49.77, which ranks fifth all-time in program history. The 4x100-meter relay team of Shatel Koranda, Maddie Moran, Bre Geary, and Rolfes placed fifth with a time of 48.35.

In the throws, Andrew Davis led Nebraska Wesleyan with a career-best performance of 161'-9" in the discus. Davis placed fifth in the event. Kyle Ott finished ninth in the hammer throw with a throw of 164'-4". 

NWU had two of the top three finishes in the long jump as Keegan Rich was second and Trent Koehler was third. Rich had a jump of 23'-6.25", which is a career-best. Koehler measured a mark of 22'-7.75". 

On the track, Marshall Chasek ran a 14.93 in the 110 hurdles. The time was good enough to place third in the event. Rudy Vrtiska finished fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.47. 

The 4x400-meter relay team of Kyle Dickinson, Ben Christenson, Gabe Anderson, and Garrett Lenners dropped three seconds off their best time of the season. The team ran a 3:14.75 to place third in the event. 

What's Next
Nebraska Wesleyan competes in the NCAA Division III Championships in Greensboro, North Carolina on Thursday, May 27 with the final day set for Saturday, May 29.
