LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan cross country teams got their season started on Saturday (Sept. 12) competing in a dual against Simpson College. NWU won the women's team race 19-38, while Simpson took the men's team race 16-43.
Leah Treffer was the individual winner in the women's race for the Prairie Wolves. The top four individual finishers were all NWU women's runners. Treffer crossed the finish line in the 5K race at Pioneers Park in a time of 19:35.6.
In her first race in an NWU uniform,
Gabby Thomas was second place in a time of 19:49.14.
Madi Bahe placed third running 20:26.14, with
Camryn Larsen taking fourth in 20:46.95.
Simpson had the first four runners in the men's 6K race led by Spencer Moon who ran 19:49.69.
Preston Decker was the top NWU runner taking 5
th place in a time of 20:49.32. Also finishing in the top ten was
Pierce Pennell running 20:50.89.
