Women’s Cross Country Leads Nations In Team GPA


LINCOLN, Neb. (January 28, 2022) – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's cross country led the nation with a team GPA of 3.90. 

The Prairie Wolves team GPA was the highest of any program, men's or women's, at all three NCAA Divisions and NAIA level. Additionally, The United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recognized Nebraska Wesleyan as an All-Academic Team. NWU had 13 student-athletes earn American Rivers Conference All-Academic Team recognition this past season. Josephine Blatny, Abigail Cawley, and Gabby Thomas all recorded 4.0 GPAs last semester with three other team members having a 3.97 GPA.

In competition, Nebraska Wesleyan's Gabby Thomas qualified for the NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship on November 20. As a team, the Prairie Wolves finished in the top five at the A-R-C Women's Cross Country Championship on October 30. Thomas earned All-Conference accolades with a 12th place finish in the conference meet.
