Name: Andy Vasquez
Hometown / High School: Omaha, Neb. / Omaha Burke HS
Sport(s): Track & Field, Cross Country, Swimming
Major: Accounting
Future Plans: In June, I will start my career as a Bank Examiner at the Federal Reserve Bank: Omaha Branch, assessing financial information of banks across the Midwest. In October, I am getting married. This summer, I will begin competing to obtain my professional triathlon license. This fall, I may pursue a graduate degree at Creighton University in business/finance.
Favorite NWU Athletics Memory: Crossing the finish line at the 2018 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships, I was met with immense love and support from the NWU teammates, alumni, coaches, and parents who drove 8 hours to freezing-cold Wisconsin to cheer. While hundreds of universities were represented in that cold, muddy, chaotic 5-mile race, Nebraska Wesleyan provided more support & encouragement than any other program in the nation. I have them to thank for my All-American performance.
Quote from Andy:Â There are few universities that allow a student-athlete to simultaneously train and compete in cross country, swimming, and indoor/outdoor track; but NWU welcomed me with open arms. I am beyond thankful I could run & swim for the P-Wolves for 4 years, and I hope NWU continues to welcome multi-sport athletes to the program.Â
Nebraska Wesleyan University spring sports teams had their seasons cut short so over the next few weeks we want to take an opportunity to honor each of the seniors in men's golf, women's golf, softball and track & field. Follow along and help us give this small token of appreciation for the years of work and dedication by each of the seniors listed below.
