COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa — In her final round as a Prairie Wolf, senior Haley Blackstone shot a career-best 80 on Tuesday to finish 10th individually and lead Nebraska Wesleyan University to a sixth-place finish out of seven teams at the Bent Tree Intercollegiate Showcase at Bent Tree Golf Club.
Blackstone, who led NWU in both rounds of the 36-hole tournament, opened Monday with an 86 before closing with the 80 on Tuesday for a two-round total of 168. Her final round was a fitting send-off, as she saved her best for last in a Prairie Wolf uniform.
As a team, NWU shot rounds of 394 and 368, finishing 31 strokes better than seventh-place Southeast Community College. Iowa Western Community College, the host, won the team title by 26 strokes over second-place Doane, with Iowa Western's Olivia Holyoak-Church claiming individual medalist honors by two strokes.
O'Brasia Amos was tied for 21st in the tournament with a 36-hole score of 180, which included her low round of the event on Tuesday with a closing 89. She opened the tournament Monday with a 91.
Sophomore Lauren Hays closed out her tournament tied for 30th with a score of 196, posting her low round of the week on Tuesday with a 93.
