LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan women's golf closed the Kaitlyn Erickson Doane Invitational with a seventh-place finish out of 13 teams, posting a two-round total of 738 (377-361) across Wilderness Ridge Country Club on Monday and Pioneers Golf Course on Tuesday.
The Prairie Wolves saved their best golf for last, trimming 16 strokes off their opening score to card a 361 in the final round, the most encouraging sign of a 71-player field that saw host Doane claim the team title at plus-70.
Lauren Hays of Burlington, Colo., paced Nebraska Wesleyan with a 21st-place finish, posting rounds of 90-85 for a plus-33 total of 175. The sophomore closed with consistency, recording back-to-back pars on holes 17 and 18 in the first round before stringing together three straight pars on holes 14-16 in the final round and finishing plus-4 on the back nine.
O'Brasia Amos of Lexington, Neb., tied for 26th at plus-37 after one of the team's most impressive final rounds of the day. Amos birdied holes 8 and 10 en route to an 82 in the second round, climbing nine spots up the leaderboard and posting the team's low round on Tuesday.
Haley Blackstone of Superior, Neb., finished 30th at plus-40. Shea Meridith of Elkhorn, Neb., tied for 53rd at plus-60, and Delaini Harper of Firth, Neb., tied for 61st at plus-70 to round out the scoring.
