Women’s Golf Opens Season with Third-Place Finish at Matthew Goette Fall Classic

OMAHA, Neb. (September 8, 2025) – Nebraska Wesleyan women's golf opened its 2025 fall season with a third-place team finish at the Matthew Goette Fall Classic, hosted by College of Saint Mary at Tiburon Golf Course. The Prairie Wolves carded a team score of 388 (+100), finishing behind host College of Saint Mary's A and B squads.

CSM's "A" team captured the team title at 353 (+65), with the Flames' "B" team taking second at 385 (+97). NWU's total was just three strokes off second place and 35 shots back of the winner in the seven-team field. Individually, Victoria Farkas (CSM) won medalist honors with an 86 (+14).

How It Happened

Junior Haley Blackstone led the way for the Prairie Wolves with a round of 93 (+21), earning her first collegiate top-10 finish. Teammate O'Brasia Amos followed closely with a 94 (+22), good for her second career top-10.

Lauren Hays added a 99 (+27) to place inside the top 15, giving NWU three golfers in the top 15 overall. Senior Tessa Hurlburt made her collegiate debut with a 102 (+30), while sophomore Shea Meridith rounded out the Prairie Wolves lineup with a 112 (+40).

Blackstone provided one of the highlights of the day, responding to an eight on the fourth hole with steady play the rest of the round to lock in her one of her career-best performances.
