Prairie Wolves Set to Host Hastings Saturday

Lincoln, NE - Following a split of the four-game series against Grinnell, Nebraska Wesleyan baseball will host Hastings College on Saturday afternoon.

Nebraska Wesleyan will host Hastings on Saturday, March 7th at 12:00 p.m. The game will be played at Sandhills Global Youth Complex, in Lincoln, Nebraska. Nebraska Wesleyan will live stream the game and carry live stats.

ABOUT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
Nebraska Wesleyan enters Saturday afternoon 2-2 after splitting a four game series with Grinnell last week. The Prairie Wolves tallied 27 hits, scored 16 runs and held a .237 batting average during the series. Duncan Ortega led the NWU offense, finishing with seven hits in 14 at-bats while scoring two runs and driving in one RBI. Defensively, NWU allowed 19 runs and finished the weekend with a .942 fielding percentage. Nebraska Wesleyan's pitching staff was consistent throughout the weekend, allowing just 16 earned runs while combining for 32 strikeouts and holding Grinnell to a batting average of .210. Garrett Walsh and Trevor Storer were excellent for NWU, with each pitcher throwing six or more innings and allowing zero runs. 

WELCOME TO THE SHOW
In his first collegiate start, freshman Garrett Walsh delivered a historic performance, throwing a complete game shut out while helping NWU earn its second win of the season. In Walsh's 86 pitches, he faced 24 batters, and struck out five while retiring 15 of the final 17 batters he faced. Walsh is the first player in the American Rivers Conference so far this year to throw a complete game shutout.

HEAD COACH JEFF CHRISTY
Jeff Christy is in his second year as the head coach at Nebraska Wesleyan. In his first season, Christy led the team to their first winning season since 2009 and helped NWU reach the A-R-C tournament championship game for the first time in school history.

SCOUTING HASTINGS
Hastings enters today 8-6 overall and earned an 8-3 victory over Southwestern Christian in their last game and have won four of their last five games. The Broncos hold a slash line of .298/.418/.438, with 122 hits and 100 runs scored. Defensively, Hastings has a .959 fielding percentage and a team ERA of 5.26.
