Jaxon Volkmer had two hits, but Nebraska Wesleyan University dropped a 10-4 non-conference and neutral-site baseball decision to Edgewood College on Sunday evening at Blue Wahoos Stadium in Pensacola. Senior right-hander
Trevor Storer started on the mound and took the pitching setback in the contest at the Blue Wahoos Challenge. The Prairie Wolves dropped to 4-8 overall, while the Eagles improved to 6-4 overall.
HOW IT HAPPENED
NWU scored four runs on seven hits with three errors, scoring one run in each the fifth, sixth, seventh, and ninth. EC scored 10 runs on 10 hits with three errors, scoring one run in the third inning, two runs in the fourth, four runs in the fifth, one run in the sixth, one run in the seventh and one runs in the eighth.
In the fifth, junior catcher
Jack Carver (0-3) was hit by a pitch on the first pitch of the inning, scoring when
Duncan Ortega (1-3) put the ball in play on a groundout to the third baseman. With Carver's run, the Prairie Wolves cut the deficit to 3-1.
In the sixth, senior first baseman
Brady Bell (1-4) reached on a single to centerfield with two outs. Bell then scored after an Edgewood throwing error that got Carver on base and the margin was 7-2.
EC was able to plate three more runs in the game, while the Prairie Wolves were only able to plate two.
Storer (1-1) started on the mound for the Black & Gold and pitched the first 3.2 innings for the tough-luck loss, allowing six hits and three runs, earned, with two strikeouts and two walks. Sophomore right-hander Trent Herrbolt faced three batters, yielding three walks. Sophomore right-hander

Drew Fuller made his first appearance of the season and faced six batters while recording the final three outs, yielding two hits with one run, earned, one strikeout and two walks.
