BROOKINGS, S.D. — With two weeks remaining before the American Rivers Conference Indoor Championships, Nebraska Wesleyan sent group into one of its toughest tests of the season at the SDSU Indoor Classic on Friday and Saturday at South Dakota State University. Competing against a field that featured Division I, II and III programs, the Prairie Wolves produced a freshman school record, multiple all-time marks and several conference-caliber performances.
HOW IT HAPPENED
On the men's side, freshman Noah Thomas rewrote a 28-year-old freshman record in the 5,000 meters, clocking 15:11.63 to place 14th. Senior Ghaith Taha advanced to the 60-meter final after a 6.90 preliminary and finished sixth in 6.92. Freshman Brennan Steenson moved to eighth in program history in the 600 with a 1:22.32. In the throws, Colin Wojtkiewicz took third in the shot put (16.35m) and fourth in the weight throw (17.56m), while Jonathan Lee placed eighth in the weight at 17.01m to move into 10th all-time.
For the women, Kaelyn Means delivered a 17.16m weight throw to finish fourth, ranking 12th nationally and fourth in school history. Jadah Laughlin ran a personal-best 9.12 in the 60 hurdles, moving to ninth all-time. In the 5,000, Reece Kozisek, Payton Jorczak and Ella Herzberg finished 44th through 46th, each under 19:30.

NWU will send athltes to the Nebraska Tune-Up and the Loper Tune-Up for the last meet regular season, Both meets will be on Friday, Feb. 20th.
