MARYVILLE, MO. - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams opened the spring portion of the 2026 indoor season with a strong showing Saturday at the Coach Alsup Invite, hosted by Northwest Missouri State inside Hughes Fieldhouse in Maryville, Missouri. The Prairie Wolves claimed two event titles, stacked multiple podium finishes and turned in several marks that immediately reshaped program record books and national conversations.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Nebraska Wesleyan made its loudest statement in the throwing events, where consistency and depth defined the day.
For the second straight meet, sophomore Sam Clements owned the men's shot put ring, capturing the event title with a winning throw of 16.93 meters (55 feet, 6.5 inches). Clements doubled back to place 11th in the weight throw with a mark of 15.84 meters.
Clements wasn't alone near the top. Colin Wojtkiewicz delivered one of the most impactful performances of the meet, finishing second in the shot put with a throw of 16.47 meters. The mark vaulted Wojtkiewicz into the NCAA Division III national top 10. Wojtkiewicz also added a third-place finish in the weight throw at 17.45 meters.
The women's weight throw was equally impressive and even deeper. Sophomore Lyndsie Bosquez captured the event title with a personal-best throw of 16.37 meters (53 feet, 8.5 inches). The mark ranks ninth on the Prairie Wolf all-time top 10 list and highlighted a breakout performance to open the season. Tiernan Stanton followed closely with a runner-up finish at 16.15 meters, while Kaelyn Means (15.89), Ja'Dein Madison (15.87) and Makenna Meyer (15.32) placed fourth through sixth, giving Nebraska Wesleyan five of the top six finishers in the event.
On the track, the Prairie Wolves picked up notable marks across multiple sprints and distance events. In the men's 60-meter hurdles, Connor Plahn earned a third-place finish with a time of 8.33 seconds, a mark that ties for 10th on the Prairie Wolf all-time chart. Connor Halde followed with a fifth-place run at 8.47 seconds, giving Nebraska Wesleyan two top-five finishers in the event.
The Prairie Wolf women were well represented in the 400 meters, placing two athletes in the top five. Ainsley Galyen led the way with a third-place finish in 58.78 seconds, while Chloe Mooberry added a fifth-place effort at 1:00.28. Mooberry also showcased her versatility in the field events, finishing fifth in the long jump with a leap of 5.48 meters (17 feet, 11.75 inches).
In the horizontal jumps on the men's side, Lachlan Pickering posted a season-best mark of 43 feet, 7.25 inches to finish fifth in the triple jump. Jonah Amill followed with an eighth-place effort at 41 feet, 11.5 inches, continuing the Prairie Wolves' steady production in the event.
The vault and distance events rounded out the day with more strong finishes. Angelina Schademann cleared 3.12 meters to place fifth in the women's pole vault, while Noah Thomas delivered a runner-up finish in the men's 5,000 meters, crossing the line in 15:18.55.
