LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraska Wesleyan track & field athletes turned in strong performances across three meets this weekend, highlighted by school records, event wins, and national rankings at the Drake Relays, Kip Janvrin Invite, and Prairie Wolf Invite.
How It Happened
A select group of Prairie Wolves competed at the prestigious Drake Relays, where Avery Decker earned a podium finish with a third-place mark of 46.04m in the javelin. The women's 4x100m relay team also made the trip to Simpson College's Kip Janvrin Invite, clocking a winning time of 47.52 behind the efforts of Natalie Cummins, Raegan Levi, Chloe Mooberry, and Keeley Hourigan.
Back home at the Prairie Wolf Invite, Nebraska Wesleyan dominated across multiple events. Colin Wojtkiewicz stole the show in the hammer throw, launching a school-record 59.22m (194'3") to move into 9th nationally in Division III. The throws squad continued to impress as freshman Sam Clements won the shot put (16.10m) and Eric Lenz took third in the hammer (55.50m).
On the track, the Prairie Wolves swept the sprint events. Ghaith Taha blazed to a 10.65 victory in the men's 100m, while Natalie Cummins won the women's race in 12.29. Morgan Conner (21.75) and Raegan Levi (25.34) completed the sweep in the 200m, and McClain Meyer added a 400m win in 49.28. Both the men's and women's 4x100m relay teams also crossed the line first, with the men's squad posting a nationally ranked time of 41.38.
Additional highlights included Eli Mackowski clearing 1.93m for second in the high jump, Kaelyn Means placing third in the discus (44.52m), and the men's 4x400m relay teams taking second and fourth.
