LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan right-hander Robbie Ross was named American Rivers Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week and A-R-C Male Athlete of the Week, the league announced Monday. The junior delivered a career performance in a 1-0, 11-inning win over Simpson, tossing nine scoreless frames with just three hits allowed.
Ross struck out a career-high eight batters, walked one, and needed just 98 pitches to navigate Simpson's lineup. He went 9.0 innings, before handing the game to the bullpen in extras.
The complete-game shutout lowered Ross's conference ERA to 2.81, ranking top 10 in the A-R-C. Opponents are hitting just .242 against him this season.
NWU (18-14, 7-9 A-R-C) takes on Simpson in a doubleheader on Tuesday. First pitch at Sandhills Global Youth Complex is set for 3:30 p.m.
