Lincoln, NE (March 7, 2025) - After finishing fourth at the 2025 A-R-C Indoor Championship meet, Nebraska Wesleyan track and field returns to Waverly, Iowa, for the Wartburg Qualifier.
ABOUT NEBRASKA WESLEYAN
This weekend will mark Nebraska Wesleyan's 13th meet of the 2024-25 indoor season. The Prairie Wolves last competed at the American Rivers Conference Indoor Championships last Friday and Saturday, with both the men's and women's teams earning fourth place. Individually, Nebraska Wesleyan had two conference champions, with
Noah Smith taking a compettive 60 meter hurdles final, and
Eli Mackowski securing gold in high jump. Additionally, Nebraska Wesleyan finished the meet with seven All-Conference honors, and 11 program top 10 performances, highlighed by
Tanner Johnson's record breaking 4,708 points in the heptathlon.
WOMEN"S MEET LINE UP
Nebraska Wesleyan will send seven women to the Wartburg Qualifier. In the field, this includes
Emmilly Berglund and
Lyndsie Bosquez who will compete in shot put and weight throw, while
Emily Druse takes on pole vault.
Natalie Cummins and
Chloe Mooberry are the lone athletes to compete in both a field and track event, with both set to take part in long jump and the 200 meter dash. Cummins will also run in the 60 meter dash.
Raegan Levi will also run in both the 60 and 200 meter dashes, while
Keeley Hourigan takes on the 60 meter hurdles.
MEN"S MEET LINE UP
Nebraska Wesleyan will send 11 men to the Wartburg Qualifier.
Colin Wojtkiewicz and
Eric Lenz highlight the throwing events as they will compete both shot put and weight throw, while
Eli Mackowski looks to improve upon last weekend's mark in high jump. The Prairie Wolves will send
Noah Smith,
Jacob Young, and
Trystin Myers to partake in the 60 meter hurdles, while
Conner Ross tackles the 3000 meter run. Nebraska Wesleyan's men's 4x400 meter relay will consist of
Morgan Conner,
McClain Meyer,
Jackson Feauto, and Conner Plahn.
TOP 50 NATIONAL MARKS
WOMEN
Emily Berglund is the lone Prairie Wolf in the national top 50 to compete at Saturday's qualifier. Berglund currently sits 15th in shot put with a toss of 13.74 meters.
MEN
Nebraska Wesleyan will see five individual athletes with at least one top 50 mark and the men's 4x400 meter relay compete on Saturday. In the field, this includes
Eric Lenz (20th and 46th) in the weight throw and shut put.
Colin Wojtkiewicz (24th and 39th) in shot put and weight throw, and
Eli Mackowski who sits 23rd in high jump. On the track, hurdles
Noah Smith (15th) and
Jacob Young (49th) highlight a loaded field, while the men's 4x400 meter relay team consisting of
Morgan Conner,
McClain Meyer, Conner Plahn, and
Jackson Feauto holds the 20th fastest time in the country.
DIRECTOR OF TRACK & FIELD AND CROSS COUNTRY DERRICK MCKENZIE PROFILE
Derrick McKenzie is in his second season as the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country at Nebraska Wesleyan. In his first year, Nebraska Wesleyan had 14 NCAA qualifying performances, five NCAA All-Americans, and two National Runner Ups. The Prairie Wolves also won six individual conference championships and broke numerous school records. Prior to being named Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, McKenzie served as an assistant coach at NWU, where he coached sprints and relays.
