LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Wesleyan's track and field teams delivered standout performances at the Loper Tune Up, with Emmilly Berglund leading the charge in the women's shot put and the men's throwers dominating their events. The Prairie Wolves showcased depth across multiple events, setting the stage for a strong push heading into the A-R-C Championships.
How It Happened
Emmilly Berglund stole the spotlight in the women's shot put, uncorking a massive throw of 13.74 meters (45'1"). The mark not only ranks seventh in school history but also currently sits 11th in Division III this season. Berglund's consistency was on display as she recorded three throws over 13 meters, solidifying her as one of the nation's top competitors in the event.
The men's throwers were equally impressive. Colin Wojtkiewicz won the shot put with a mark of 15.92 meters (52'2.75"), while Eric Lenz took second with a throw of 15.33 meters (50'3.5"). Lenz also claimed victory in the weight throw with a heave of 18.31 meters (60'1"), further cementing his status as one of the A-R-C's premier throwers. Wojtkiewicz added a third-place finish in the weight throw with a mark of 16.64 meters (54'7.25").
In the jumps, Eli Mackowski and Benjamin Cumpston both cleared 1.89 meters (6'2.25") in the men's high jump. Jonah Amill made waves in the triple jump, finishing fourth with a leap of 13.03 meters (42'9"), while Jax Biehl added a sixth-place finish with a mark of 12.19 meters (40'0").
On the track, Terrell Davis led the way for the Prairie Wolves in the men's 60 meters, posting a time of 7.45 in the prelims.
The women's pole vault saw Emily Druse clear 3.42 meters (11'2.5") to finish fifth, while freshman Sydnee Cheek added an 11th-place finish with a mark of 2.97 meters (9'9"). In the weight throw, Kaelyn Means placed fourth with a throw of 16.08 meters (52'9.25"), and Lyndsie Bosquez added a seventh-place finish with a mark of 14.83 meters (48'8").
