OMAHA, Neb. (November 12, 2025) — Nebraska Wesleyan women's basketball secured its first win of the 2025–26 season Wednesday night, using a dominant defensive effort and balanced scoring attack to take down the College of Saint Mary, 66–52, in Omaha.
The Prairie Wolves shot 40.4 percent from the field and forced 22 turnovers while holding the Flames to just 38.8 percent shooting. Three Prairie Wolves scored in double figures as Nebraska Wesleyan built a lead early and maintained control through a steady defensive presence.
How It Happened
Nebraska Wesleyan set the tone early, jumping out to a 17–12 lead after the first quarter behind the hot hand of Brynn Sebek, who opened the game with a three-pointer and added a trio of two-point buckets. Defensively, NWU forced seven turnovers in the frame to limit Saint Mary's rhythm.
The Flames briefly tied the game late in the second quarter before Rhyanne Mackling sank two free throws to send the Prairie Wolves into halftime with a narrow 25–23 edge.
In the third quarter, Nebraska Wesleyan's defense continued to shine, forcing five more turnovers while Peyton Tritz steadied the offense with timely scores and trips to the line. NWU led 43–40 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Prairie Wolves sealed the win with a poised final period. Sebek buried her second three-pointer of the night and knocked down three free throws to stretch the lead to 14, capping off a strong closing push that saw NWU outscore the Flames 23–12 in the fourth.
