Box Score LINCOLN, Neb. (September 28th, 2024) - Nebraska Wesleyan battled Luther to a 1-1 tie, Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The visiting Norse attacked Nebraska Wesleyan early, firing two shots in the first eight minutes. However, neither shot found the back of the net.
Averie Hike would tally Nebraska Wesleyan's first shot of the game in the 12th minute, but a solid save by Luther's goalie kept the game scoreless. Neither offense managed to find much success until a 34th minute
Bryce Melis shot that missed to the left. Late in the first half, the Norse would break the deadlock with a goal in the 40th minute. Both teams failed to score during the remainder of the half and Luther took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Both defenses continued to play well early in the second half. However, Luther took advantage of a lapse in the Prairie Wolf defense and fired a shot in the 54th minute, which was stopped by
Jena Schultz. The save flipped momentum in Nebraska Wesleyan's favor, as the Prairie Wolves took the next four shots. Then in the 78th minute,
Jena Schultz came up big stopping a shot from bottom center to keep the game 1-0. Five minutes later, Nebraska Wesleyan tied the game on the foot of
Aniaya Reed. Nebraska Wesleyan would take one more shot in the 86th minute, but the shot was saved by Luther. The game remained scoreless over the final four minutes and ended in a 1-1 tie.
Nebraska Wesleyan tallied eight shots overall, with four on target. Luther recorded five shots overall, with three on target.
