LINCOLN, Neb. – The Nebraska Wesleyan women's soccer team earned its second win of the 2026 season on Saturday evening, defeating Midland, 2-1, in its intra-Nebraska contest at Abel Stadium.

Faith Forehand provided the game winning goal, converting a penalty kick in the 90th minute to give the Prairie Wolves their first lead of the game and secure the win.
Nebraska Wesleyan controlled the offensive action throughout the opening half, recording 10 shots compared to just six for the Warriors. The Prairie Wolves put six of their 10 first-half attempts on target, forcing Midland goalkeeper Andrea Chiliquinga Haro to make five saves before halftime.

The Prairie Wolves responded finding their first goal in the 31st minute off of a corner. The corner found
Emma Parker who passed it into
Shelbee Daffer who one-touched it to
Nella Castaneda for the goal, her first of the season.
The Prairie Wolves held 1-1 into halftime and continued to pressure Midland in the second half. Nebraska Wesleyan added 11 more shots after the break, while goalkeeper
Cassidy Hofstetter came up with a key save in the 70th minute to keep Midland from taking the lead.
Midland threatened late, but Nebraska Wesleyan's defense held firm over the final 20 minutes. In the 90th minute, a well-placed ball found
Nella Castaneda with only the goalkeeper between her and the goal before a Midland defender brought her down to draw a penalty kick.
Faith Forehand stepped to the spot and calmly buried the penalty past the frozen keeper inside the right post.
Nebraska Wesleyan finished the afternoon with a 21-12 advantage in shots and put 11 attempts on frame compared to just five for Midland. Hofstetter recorded four saves in the win, while Chiliquinga Haro finished with nine saves for the Warriors.
With the victory, Nebraska Wesleyan improves to 2-2-1 overall, while Midland falls to 0-4 overall.
Nebraska Wesleyan will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 16, when the Prairie Wolves travel to take on Dakota Wesleyan at 6:00 p.m.
