LINCOLN, NEB. - Hannah Churchill scored her team-leading second goal in the 69th minute as Nebraska Wesleyan came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw Sunday morning against Gustavus Adolphus at Abel Stadium.
Playing the second of back-to-back home games, NWU finished the first week of the season with a 1-1-1 record. Gustavus Adolphus is 1-1-1.
Nebraska Wesleyan's goal came from a
Hannah Churchill penalty.
Berlyn Parker was fouled in the box creating the scoring opportunity. Churchill flicked a right-footer that got past GAC goalkeeper Katelyn Olson, on the top left shelf.
NOTES
- Nebraska Wesleyan is 1-2-2 in its last five meetings with Gustavus Adolphus.
- The Prairie Wolves earned advantages of 16-12 in total shots, but the Golden Gusties held the advantage 10-7 in shots on goal and 3-2 in corner kicks.
- With two goals and five points, Hannah Churchill has equaled her career-high totals for a season established two years ago. Churchill has scored on two of her three shots on goal this season.
- Cassidy Hofstetter, Emily Jasa and Emma Parker played all 90 minutes for the Prairie Wolves.
- Seven different players combined for NWU's 16 shots, led by Nella Castaneda's five (career high) and Shelbee Daffer and Avah Berlin's (both season high) three apiece. Five different Prairie Wolves accounted for the seven shots on frame.
