Baseball to Play Five Road Games this Weekend

LINCOLN, Neb. (April 3, 2024) - Nebraska Wesleyan is set to visit eastern Iowa this weekend to face Wartburg and Loras. The Prairie Wolves will play five games over the course of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN @ WARTBURG SERIES INFORMATION, GAME TIMES, LIVE STREAM & LIVE STATS
  • This weekend will mark the 21st, 22nd, and 23rd match ups between the two teams. Wartburg leads the all time series 12-8.
  • First pitch on Friday, April 5th, is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Rollrivers Network will live stream the game. Wartburg will carry live stats.
  • Saturday will see the Prairie Wolves and Knights play a double header. Game one is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. Game two is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. Rollrivers Network will live stream both games. Wartburg will carry live stats.

  • Sunday will mark the 19th and 20th match ups between the two teams. Loras leads the all time series 15-3.
  • Game one is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. Game two is scheduled to begin at 3:00 p.m. The Duhawk Broadcast Network will live stream both games. Loras will carry live stats.
SCOUTING THE PRAIRIE WOLVES
Nebraska Wesleyan enters this weekend with a 7-11 record. The Prairie Wolves fell to Simpson College in their last game, and are on a four game losing streak. Nebraska Wesleyan has a batting average of .269, with seven home runs, 100 RBIs, a slugging percentage of .375, and an on base percentage of .368. Nebraska Wesleyan's pitchers have an ERA of 5.83 and a WHIP of 1.51. ERIC IGNATOWSKI PROFILE
Eric Ignatowski was hired as the 11th head coach in program history in November of 2022 and enters his second season as the skipper of Nebraska Wesleyan. In his first season, he directed the Prairie Wolves to a 14-26 record. Prior to taking over at Nebraska Wesleyan, Ignatowski spent 10 years as an assistant coach at Millikan University, where he helped the Big Blue win the CCIW Tournament Championship in 2021. Ignatowski also coached 25 athletes who were awarded All-Conference honors.

SPEED ON THE BASE PATHS
Carter Betts enters this weekend with a team high seven steals on a 100% steal rate. Additionally, Betts ranks ninth in the American Rivers Conference in stolen bases. 

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN BASEBALL TRADITION
Nebraska Wesleyan has won 23 conference championships with the most recent occurring in 2009. NWU's last tournament appearance occurred in 1982. Since joining the American Rivers Conference, the Prairie Wolves best finish is third in 2022. 

SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS
Wartburg enters this weekend with a 12-7 record. The Knights defeated Buena Vista in their last game. Wartburg has a batting average of .279, with 18 home runs, 140 RBIs, a slugging percentage of .450, and an on base percentage of .400. Wartburg's pitchers have an ERA of 6.06 and a WHIP of 1.58. Defensively, the Knights carry a .961 fielding percentage. The Knights are coached by Casey Klunder who is in his first season. 

SCOUTING THE DUHAWKS
Loras enters this weekend with a 12-5 record.  The Duhawks will play a three game series against Luther College on Friday, April 5th, and Saturday, April 6th. The Duhawks defeated Wisconsin Whitewater in their last game. Loras has a batting average of .317, with 12 home runs, 122 RBIs, a slugging percentage of .452, and an on base percentage of .407. Loras's pitchers have an ERA of 5.11 and a WHIP of 1.68. Defensively, the Duhawks carry a .955 fielding percentage. The Duhawks are coached by Carl Tebon who is in his 28th season.
