Nebraska Wesleyan enters this Tuesday with a 7-10 record. The Prairie Wolves were swept by Central in their last series. ERIC IGNATOWSKI PROFILE
Eric Ignatowski was hired as the 11th head coach in program history in November of 2022 and enters his second season as the skipper of Nebraska Wesleyan. In his first season, he directed the Prairie Wolves to a 14-26 record. Prior to taking over at Nebraska Wesleyan, Ignatowski spent 10 years as an assistant coach at Millikan University, where he helped the Big Blue win the CCIW Tournament Championship in 2021. Ignatowski also coached 25 athletes who were awarded All-Conference honors.
CLEARING THE BASES
Duncan Ortega has driven in a team high 15 RBIs this season. He has recorded at least one RBI in six of Nebraska Wesleyan's 17 games. Ortega recorded a season high five RBIs in Nebraska Wesleyan's game three victory over Concordia Moorhead. Additionally, Ortega recorded three RBIs in Nebraska Wesleyan's season opening win over Westminster and in the Prairie Wolves' series opening loss to the University of Dallas.
NEBRASKA WESLEYAN BASEBALL TRADITION
Nebraska Wesleyan has won 23 conference championships with the most recent occurring in 2009. NWU's last tournament appearance occurred in 1982. Since joining the American Rivers Conference, the Prairie Wolves best finish is third in 2022.
SCOUTING THE STORM
Simpson enters Tuesday with an 8-13 record. The Storm defeated Luther College in their last game. Joel Sampson has recorded 26 hits and holds a .321 batting average. As a team, the Storm carry a .260 batting average and have scored 123 runs on the season. The Storm are coached by Nathan Roling who is in his eighth season.
