LINCOLN, Neb. (March 27th, 2024) - Nebraska Wesleyan is set to open American Rivers Conference play this weekend at home against Central College.

• This weekend will mark the 23rd, 24th, and 25th match ups between the two teams. Central leads the all time series 14-8.

Nebraska Wesleyan enters this weekend with a 7-7 record. The Prairie Wolves swept Concordia Moorhead in their last series. Nebraska Wesleyan has a batting average of .261, with six home runs, 78 RBIs and a slugging percentage of .372. Nebraska Wesleyan's pitchers have an ERA of 5.28 and a WHIP of 1.50. Defensively, the Prairie Wolves carry a .970 fielding percentage.

ERIC IGNATOWSKI PROFILE
Eric Ignatowski was hired as the 11th head coach in program history in November of 2022 and enters his second season as the skipper of Nebraska Wesleyan. In his first season, he directed the Prairie Wolves to a 14-26 record. Prior to taking over at Nebraska Wesleyan, Ignatowski spent 10 years as an assistant coach at Millikan University, where he helped the Big Blue win the CCIW Tournament Championship in 2021. Ignatowski also coached 25 athletes who were awarded All-Conference honors.

HOW SWEEP IT IS
Nebraska Wesleyan's sweep of Concordia Moorhead was the Prairie Wolves first three game sweep since defeating North Central University last season. The Prairie Wolves outscored the Cobbers 22-16 in the series.

NEBRASKA WESLEYAN BASEBALL TRADITION
Nebraska Wesleyan has won 23 conference championships with the most recent occurring in 2009. NWU's last tournament appearance occurred in 1982. Since joining the American Rivers Conference, the Prairie Wolves best finish is third in 2022. 

SCOUTING THE DUTCH
Central enters this weekend with a 6-9 record. The Dutch have won their last two games. Colton DeRocher has recorded 22 hits and holds a .361 batting average. As a team, the Dutch carry a .265 batting average and have scored 103 runs on the season. The Dutch are coached by Adam Carey who is in his first season.
