LINCOLN, Neb. (February 16, 2024) - The Nebraska Wesleyan track and field team split up on Friday afternoon in preparation for the A-R-C Championships. Track events competed at the University of Lincoln-Nebraska Tune Up, while field events traveled to Kearney, Neb. to participate in the Loper Tune Up.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Steven Dalmeida sprinted to a tenth-place finish in the 60-meter dash. The sophomore crossed the finish line in exactly seven seconds.
- Eli Etherton and Noah Smith were two of the top finishers in the men's 60-meter hurdles. Etherton finished fourth with a time of 8:07, while Smith came in ninth with a time of 8.40.
- In a tough pool of runners. Gabe Anderson fought his way to seventh place in the men's 400m. Anderson's time was 50.08.
- Gabby Thomas and Delaney Vacek finished back-to-back in the women's 600m. The duo took home silver and bronze, crossing the finish line in 1:38.20 and 1:39.55.
- Morgan Conner, Gabe Anderson, Austin Nauert, and Javier Kenney closed the show in Lincoln in the 4x400. The group threw down the thirteenth fastest time in the country (3:17.15) and finished third.
- Over in Kearney, Lachlan Pickering leaped 6.74 meters in the men's long jump to win the event.
- Chloe Mooberry completed the Prairie Wolf long jump sweep, jumping 5.39m.
- Marley Espinosa led the way for Nebraska Wesleyan in the women's shot put. Espinosa finished runner-up with a distance of 12.11m.
- Throwing 15.95 meters in the men's shot put, Eric Lenz came in second. Lenz followed up his shot put performance with a third-place finish in the weight throw (17.32 m).
- Ja'Dein Madison and Kaelyn Means showed out in the weight throw, going second and third for NWU. Madison threw 16.33 m, and Means threw 16.27m.

The Prairie Wolves will travel to Dubuque, Iowa on Friday, February 23 and Saturday, February 24 to compete in the American Rivers Conference Indoor Championships. All events will be held on the campus of the University of Dubuque.
