Track and Field's Decker, Dickinson and Homan Leave A-R-C Outdoor Championships as Conference Champions

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Nebraska Wesleyan University's track and field team brought home three conference champions at the 2023 A-R-C Outdoor Championships hosted by Luther College. The men finished fourth overall as a team, while the women finished fifth.
  • Trisha Hayes picked up the first A-R-C medal for the Prairie Wolves. Hayes finished second in the heptathlon with a score of 3,937. 
  • The men's 4x800 ran a 7:37.93, which was good for a third-place conference finish. The relay team consisted of Gabe Anderson, Javier Kenney, Mason Coulter, and Garrett Lenners. 
  • Picking up where he left off last outdoor season, Eli Mackowski cleared 2.02m in the high jump to finish third.
  • Eric Lenz took home a second-place finish in the shot put. Lenz stayed hot with a toss of 15.58m. 
  • Ellie Akough continued her stellar season by placing second in the women's discus. The first-year Prairie Wolf recorded a throw of 45.58m. 
  • On his last attempt, Dallen Booker leaped 13.85m in the triple jump to become conference runner-up. 
  • Sam Homan let it fly in the men's javelin. Homan launched a throw of 57.78m to win the American Rivers Conference title.
  • Kyle Dickinson and Gabe Anderson led the way in the men's 400. Dickinson broke a NWU record and placed first with a time of 47.12. Anderson finished just behind him in second at 48.26. 
  • Isabella Hogue dashed to a third-place podium spot in the 100m. Hogue ran a 12.10, earning six points for Nebraska Wesleyan. 
  • In a stacked event, Garrett Lenners finished second in the 800 and broke a 19-year-old record with a time of 1:48.69. 
  • In the 200m, Isabella Hogue placed second to cap off her weekend. Hogue added another medal to her already decorated career with a time of 24.60.
  • Gabe Anderson, Ben Christenson, Morgan Conner, and Garrett Lenners threw down a 3:12.57 in the 4x400. That time was good enough for a bronze medal and a spot on the conference podium. 
  • The women's 4x400 ran a 3:53.74, finishing third. The relay team consisted of Isabella Hilger, Bre Geary, Alexa Koza, and Trisha Hayes. 
  • Avery Decker closed out the meet with a school record and conference title in the javelin throw. The senior dominated the event with a throw of 48.43m.

The Prairie Wolves will compete at the Augie Twilight Qualifier in Rock Island, Ill. on Thursday, May 18. Events start at 4:00 p.m.
