LINCOLN, Neb. - Nebraska Wesleyan women's track and field junior
Emmilly Berglund was named the USTFCCCA Women's NCAA Division III National Athlete of the Week for the week ending December 14, 2025, following a standout performance to open the indoor season.
Berglund, a Shelton, Nebraska native, claimed first place in the shot put at the Bulldog Early Bird Invitational on Saturday, December 13, hosted by Concordia University. Her winning throw of 14.02 meters not only secured the event title but currently ranks first in the nation across Division III, setting an early national standard in the event.
The honor marks the first USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week award of Berglund's career and the first time a Nebraska Wesleyan women's track and field athlete has earned the recognition. The junior's performance continues a steady upward trajectory following two successful seasons with the Prairie Wolves.
Competing in the season-opening meet, Berglund delivered her top mark early in the competition and maintained consistency throughout the event, separating herself from the field.
Nebraska Wesleyan will return to competition on Saturday, January 17, traveling to Maryville, Missouri, for the Richard Aslup Open on the campus of Northwest Missouri State. With the indoor season just underway, Berglund's national honor signals a strong start for the Prairie Wolves and sets the tone for the weeks ahead.
