Men's Track Breaks Three School Records at SDSU Classic

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Nebraska Wesleyan track and field team competed at the SDSU Classic hosted by South Dakota State University. The Prairie Wolf 4x800 meter relay team consisting of Gabe Anderson, Mason Coulter, Javier Kenney, and Garrett Lenners broke the school record on the first day of the competition. Gabe Anderson's breaking of the indoor 600 meter school record made the last day of the competition memorable. Eli Etherton also re-broke his own 60 meter hurdle record in the finals by running 8.05 and taking first place.
In the women's pole vault competition, Emily Druse scored a mark of 3.15 meters, moving her into seventh place in school history. Morgan Conner participated in the men's long jump and earned a mark of 6.74 meters and a third place finish.
The long-distance crew also looked impressive. Norbert Weijenberg comes back in his first race of the season and ran a 8:51 in the 3000 meters. The women's team had a stellar performance Abby Cawley and Kate Schoening having personal bests in the 3000 meters, and Kate Slama with another personal best in the mile.
In the 800 meters, Garrett Lenners competed for the Prairie Wolves. He finished in third with a time of 1:51.59. Kyle Dickinson took tenth place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 48.39. Teammate Ben Christenson was not far behind finishing in 49.84. Isabella Hilger and Alexa Koza finished the 400 meter dash with season best times of 58.33 and 58.55 respectively.
Bre Geary led the women's squad in the 200 running an indoor career best 26.09. On the men's side, five guys ran under 23 seconds led by Morgan Conner's 22.28.
