School Record Falls At Drake Relays

Des Moines, Iowa (April 29, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan track and field teams competed at the 112th annual Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa on Friday, April 29.

Known as one of the top track and field meets in the nation, at any level, NWU's women's Sprint Medley Relay carried their own in their race. The Prairie Wolves team of Bre Geary, Isabella Hilger, Isabella Hogue, and Reagan Janzen ran a 4:00.32 to set a new program record and finish second in the college division.

In the men's 4x800-meter relay, NWU placed third in the college division. The relay team consisting of Gabe Anderson, Tyler Taubenheim, Javier Kenney, and Garrett Lenners clocked a 7:36.32 in the event, which is the fourth-fastest in program history. The Nebraska Wesleyan men's 4x400-meter relay team of Gabe Anderson, Rudy Vrtiska, Lucas Arps, and Garrett Lenners ran a 3:19.72 to finish top 20 of the event.

Additionally, Norbert Weijenbgerg competed for the Prairie Wolves at the Kip Janvrin Invitational on Friday in Indianola, Iowa. Weijenberg competed in the men's 3000 Steeplechase. He finished fifth in the race with a time of 9:26.76.

All three relay teams and Weijenburg finished ahead of competitors from NCAA Division II, III, and NAIA levels in their respective races.
