NWU Wins Two Events At Augustana Midwest Twilight Meet


ROCK ISLAND, Ill. (May 19, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams wrapped up the 2022 outdoor regular season at the Augustana Midwest Twilight in Rock Island, Illinois. NWU had two individual champions and two top-five performances at the event.

Garrett Lenners won the men's 800-meter run for the Prairie Wolves. Lenners turned in the second-fastest time in program history at 1:50.07 to win the event by a tenth of a second. On the field side, Avery Decker took the top spot in the women's javelin. Decker recorded a throw of 143'-03" to win the event by nine feet. The mark also ranks third all-time in program history. 

NWU also received top-five finishes from Rudy Vrtiska and Madison Brase. Vrtiska was fourth in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a 53.58, which cracked the top-10 charts in program history. Madison Brase with fifth in the women's discus with a performance of 141'-01".

UP NEXT
Nebraska Wesleyan will compete in the NCAA Championships in Geneva, Ohio on May 26-28. A full list of participants for the national meet will be announced by the NCAA in the next few days.
