Track and Field Teams Win Seven Events At Home Invitational

LINCOLN (April 28, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams competed in the 2022 Prairie Wolf Invitational at the Woody Greeno Track and Abel Stadium. NWU won seven events on the day.

Garrett Lenners raced to the top spot in the men's 800-meter run. Lenners won the event with a time of 1:50.60, which stands as the third-fastest time in NWU history. Eli Etherton claimed the men's 110-meter hurdle title. Etherton clocked a 14.61 to win the race, the 10th-fastest time in program history. Grant Reid joined Lenners and Etherton with a gold medal. Reid won the men's 3000 steeplechase with a time of 10:08.42.

McKenna Marsh helped the Prairie Wolves sweep the steeplechase titles. Marsh won the women's race with a time of 12:04.63. In the women's 1500-meter run, Gabby Thomas claimed the top spot. Thomas won the race with a time of 4:54.28. Josephine Blatny took the title in the women's 1000-meter run with a time of 43:27.08.

In the field events, Avery Decker won the women's javelin throw. Decker recorded a mark of 133'-4", which is the fifth-best throw in the program history.

Nebraska Wesleyan also picked eight second-place finishes and four third-place finishes on the day.

NWU will have a handful of student-athletes compete at the historic Drake Relays on Friday, April 29 in Des Moines, Iowa.
