Box Score
LINCOLN, Neb. (April 1, 2022) - The Nebraska Wesleyan baseball team knocked off Coe College, 12-8, to take game one in a three-game series at NWU Field in Lincoln. It is the first win against the Kohawks since March 26, 2017, when NWU won, 7-6, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The Prairie Wolves needed to dig out of an early hole after Coe plated five runs in the first three innings. Alex Angele started a rally for NWU in the bottom of the third inning with a double. Angele scored on the next at-bat when an error allowed him to score from second base. After Derek Kolbush knocked another double, Kaleb Knox made it a one-run game with a home run to left-center field.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Nebraska Wesleyan took the lead. Georget got on base with a base hit then Kolbush pushed the Prairie Wolves in front with a home run to center field. The rally continued when Jason English's double plated Knox for a 7-5 advantage.

An inning later, Kolbush padded the lead and added another RBI to his total with a single through the middle of the infield to score Angele. After the Kohawks tied the game in the top of the seventh inning, Nebraska Wesleyan answered back in the bottom half of the inning. Angele delivered a timely single to right field which scored Riley Ward to take a one-run lead.

In the next inning, NWU added a pair of insurance runs with a two-run home run from Kaleb Knox, his second of the game. Riley Ward tacked on another run with an RBI double that scored John Haimowitz. Noah Wing then came in the ninth inning to pick up the save with three strikeouts.

Kaleb Knox and Derek Kolbush combined for nine RBIs, seven hits, three home runs, and scored six runs for Nebraska Wesleyan. As a team, NWU had seven doubles in the win, led by two doubles a piece from Kolbush and Angele.
