Track and Field Sees School Records Fall At Tune Up Meets


LINCOLN, Neb. (February 18, 2022) – The Nebraska Wesleyan men's and women's track and field teams competed in the Husker Tune-Up in Lincoln and the Loper Tune-Up in Kearney, Nebraska.

NWU's Maddie Moran continued to build upon a stellar indoor season. For the third time this season, Moran ran NCAA Division III's fastest time and lowered the program record in women's 60-meter dash. Moran clocked a time of 7.59, which placed third in the race but was the highest finish by an NCAA Division III participant at the Husker Tune-Up.

Also continuing to build on an impressive indoor season is Isabella Hogue. Hogue broke the program record in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.94. The time ranks fourth in the division and was also the best time turned in by an NCAA Division III participant at the Husker Tune-Up.

The Nebraska Wesleyan men's 4x400-meter relay won the event at the Husker Tune-Up, which had teams from all three NCAA Divisions in the field. The team of Kyle Dickinson, Ben Christenson, Gabe Anderson, and Garrett Lenners ran a time of 3:17.36 to win by three seconds and sit top 10 in the division.

The Prairie Wolves women's 4x400-meter relay finished second in their race at the Husker Tune-Up, trailing only Nebraska from NCAA Division I. The relay team of Isabella Hilger, Alexa Koza, Camryn Larsen, and Reagan Janzen ran a time of 3:54.74 at the Husker Tune-Up.

Addie Thomas led Nebraska Wesleyan in the women's field events at the Loper Tune-up. Thomas won the triple jump with a mark 35'3.75" and was one of three Prairie Wolves in the top three of the event. Emali Torres was runner-up in the shot put with a mark of 40'2". Madison Brase was also a runner-up in the weight throw. Brase had a performance of 52'9.25" in the event. 

In men's field events, Jace Heckinlively finished in second for the long jump at the Loper Tune-Up. Heckinlively recorded a mark of 20'1". Dalton Schmidt also finished second in the triple jump at the Loper Tune-Up with a performance of 42'10.25".
