Bats Go Quiet in Two Losses at Mount Marty

YANKTON, S.D. – Mount Marty pitchers combined to throw two complete game shutouts as the Lancers swept Nebraska Wesleyan in GPAC baseball doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.  MMC won the first game 1-0, then took game two 7-0.
 
Nebraska Wesleyan is now in the middle of a nine-game losing streak as the Prairie Wolves have not scored a run for 20 straight innings.  The Prairie Wolves sit at 11-21 overall and 2-10 in GPAC play.
 
Jordan Haas and Nate Teitler allowed just one run and three hits for the Prairie Wolves in the first game, but the offense couldn't muster up anything.  Mount Marty got the only run of the game in the bottom of the third inning as an RBI double drove in a runner that had walked to start the inning. 
 
Haas went a season-high 5 2/3 innings allowing three hits and one run.  He struck out one, but did walk seven batters.  Nate Teitler pitched the final out in the bottom of the sixth.
 
The only threat for Nebraska Wesleyan came in the 6th inning.  Chase Powers doubled to open the inning.  He advanced to third base on a double steal with, but remained stranded on third base as the Lancers recorded two outs to end the threat.
 
Powers had two of the three hits in the game with Mark Korsakas adding a single for the other hit of the game.
 
Game two was more of the same for the Nebraska Wesleyan bats as they got only six hits in nine innings of the second game.
 
Mount Marty was able to get their offense going early as they scored three runs in the 2nd inning with five hits in the inning.  They added one more run in the third then opened up the game for good with three runs in the 8th.
 
Jordyn Johnson took the loss for Nebraska Wesleyan going 7.0 innings allowing four earned runs and ten hits.  He struck out four and walked just one. 
 
Tyler Winterstein was the only NWU player with multiple hits as he went 2-4 with a double.
