LINCOLN, Neb. – Hastings College swept a pair of games from Nebraska Wesleyan on Friday afternoon (April 22) in GPAC baseball action at NWU Field in Woods Park. The Broncos won the first game 8-2, then took game two 9-3.

With the two losses, the Prairie Wolves have now lost 11 straight games to fall to 11-23 overall and 2-12 in GPAC play to sit in 11
th place in the league standings. The Prairie Wolves will look to snap the streak on Saturday in the final home game of the year as they host Doane College on Senior Day. A special tribute to legendary coach Ron Bachman will take place prior to the game.

Hastings starting pitcher William Reynolds had control for the majority of game one as the got the complete game victory. Reynolds struck out 10 and allowed only five hits. The Broncos got the scoring started with three runs in the top of the third inning as they got three hits in the inning.

NWU finally ended their scoreless streak in the bottom of the 4
th inning. The Prairie Wolves had gone 23 straight innings without a run before they finally got rolling in the 4
th. With two outs
Pete Sitorius doubled over the first baseman's head. The next batter
James McKain singled to drive in Sitorius.Â
Chase Powers then doubled to deep left center field to drive in another run and make the score 3-2.

The Broncos quickly responded with two runs in the 5
th inning, then put the game out of reach with three more runs in the 6
th inning as they took advantage of two NWU errors.

Caleb Thiessen took the loss for NWU as he went 5 2/3 innings allowing six earned runs and 11 hits.Â

Justus Stocks was 2-3 to lead the Prairie Wolves offense. Â

Game two also got off to a rough start as the Broncos jumped ahead 4-0 after the top of the 2
nd inning. NWU got on the board in the bottom of the 2
nd inning. The Prairie Wolves used two errors by the Broncos shortstop to score one run to make the score 4-1.

Nick Williams sent a deep home run over the left field wall for a two-run HR in the top of the 5
th for Hastings to make the score 6-1. NWU did get one run back in the bottom half of the inning. Sitorius singled down the right field line to drive in
Sam Ayars who had reached on a walk.

Hastings got a big 3-run home run from Mitchel Marquardt in the top of the 6
th and that sealed the victory.

Brody Murphy (5-4) took the loss allowing five earned runs in 5.0 innings of work. NWU finished with eight hits in the game, but left 14 runners stranded on base. Stocks once again led the NWU offense as the only player with a multi-hit game. He was 2-4 with a triple.Â
