Baseball Drops Pair at Friends

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Nebraska Wesleyan dropped a pair of games in a baseball doubleheader in Wichita, Kan,, on Friday (Feb. 28) to Friends University.  The Falcons won game one 9-1, then took the second game 2-0.

NWU committed three costly error and Friends had two big innings to win the first game.  The Falcons scored four runs in the bottom of the second five in the bottom of the sixth inning with only two of the nine runs being earned.

The Prairie Wolves got on the board first as Chris Johnson hit an RBI double to drive in JJ Thaut.  Friends answered in the bottom of the inning as a scoring error brought in two runs and Friends also got an RBI triple and RBI single.

The Falcons scored five in the sixth inning with a big blow coming on a pinch hit 3-run double b Dylan Fensky.

Six different Nebraska Wesleyan players had a hit in the game with the lone extra base hit being Johnson's double.  Sam Busboom took the loss going 4.0 innings allowing four runs, one earned and five hits.

Matt Schommer threw a great game on the mound for the Prairie Wolves in the second game, but didn't get any offensive help.  Schommer allowed just six hits and one earned run in an effective game of only 61 pitches.

The only scoring of game two was a 2-run double by Taylor Douglas in the bottom of the third.

NWU managed just six hits in the second game with Chris Johnson going a perfect 3-3 at the plate.  Nick Dolson, Pete Sitorius and Colby McPike each had a single.
