GEORGETOWN, TX – Nebraska Wesleyan men's soccer opened its Texas trip Friday night with a 4-0 loss to Southwestern University. The Pirates' victory was the first in the all-time series between the two programs.

After an initial flurry of half chances for the Pirates, they opened the scoring in the 17th minute. Gray Richards was cleverly slipped through on goal. He finished the move with a curled strike that beat sophomore Christian Lindseth at his far post.

The hosts continued to dominate possession as the match carried on and the Black and Gold's back line was on high alert. Head coach Brandon Bonilla's group looked for attacking opportunities on the counter and found one in the 25^th minute. The ball eventually found senior Owen Glogowski who took a great first touch. The Omaha, Nebraska native blew by his man and fired off a long shot, but it was saved.

Christian Lindseth made four saves in the opening 45 minutes as the Pirates took a 1-0 lead into halftime.

Quinn MacLeod doubled the Pirates lead less than a minute into the second half. The move began with the ball at the feet of Cooper Pero. The ball was worked wide and quickly finished off by MacLeod outside the box.

With its commanding lead, Southwestern continued to manage the match and more importantly the clock. The hosts' large spells of possession kept Nebraska Wesleyan pinned back, stifling its offensive opportunities.

The Pirates added another goal in the 54th minute when Pero scored off an assist from Ross Anderson. Pero added his second goal of the night in the 70th minute, converting a penalty kick to complete the scoring.

Southwestern finished with an 18-11 advantage in shots and held a 57-43 edge in possession. Lindseth finished with six saves for the Prairie Wolves, while Southwestern's Bass and Mark Marino combined for five saves to record the shutout.

Glogowski led Nebraska Wesleyan with three shots, including two on goal. Max Matthies added two shots.

Nebraska Wesleyan will conclude its Texas trip Sunday when the Prairie Wolves face Austin College at noon.
